Albert J. Young
Albert J. Young was born in Escanaba, Michigan on August 20, 1871.
He received his education in the schools of Escanaba and immediately
entered into the activities of a business life.
He was raised as a Master Mason in Delta Lodge No. 195 on March 13,
1893. He received the York Rite Degrees in Delta Chapter No. 118,
Mark Master, on April 25, 1899; Past Most Excellent Master and Royal
Arch on May 5, 1899. He received the Cryptic Degrees in Hiawatha
Council No. 65 in Manistique on February 26, 1902. He received the
Order of Knighthood in Escanaba Commandery No. 47, the Order of the
Red Cross on September 8, 1899; Knight Templar and Malta on
September 28, 1899.
He obtained the Scottish Rite Degrees in DeWitt Clinton Consistory and
Coordinate Bodies of Grand Rapids in November 1905. He later
transferred to Francis M. Moore Consistory and Coordinate bodies in
Marquette. He received the Order of High Priesthood in the Grand
Chapter of Michigan in 1915. He received the Order of the Eastern Star
in R. C. Hatheway Chapter No. 49, O.E.S. He received membership in
the A.A.O.N.M.S. in Ahmed Temple in Marquette, on February 26, 1901.
He received the Royal Order of Scotland in Buffalo, N.Y., in September
1926. He was invited to join the Red Cross of Constantine St. Vincent
Conclave of Grand Rapids, and the R.O.J. in Grand Rapids Court No. 11. He served as Worshipful Master of his lodge, High
Priest of his Chapter, Eminent Commander of his Commandery, Commander-in-Chief of his Consistory, and Potentate of his
Shrine. He was Grand High Priest of the Grand Chapter, R.A.M. of the State of Michigan in 1915. He was Coroneted a 33°
Mason in Buffalo, N.Y., on September 1926.
He was duly elected Most Worshipful Grand Master in May 1931.
He was married on March 27, 1895, to Grace A. Taylor.
He died on October 18, 1947.
